Meningitis Disease

Meningitis is an inflammation on the protective membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord, or known as menginges. The inflammation may cause by infection with bacteria, viruses, or microorganisms but less commonly by certain drugs. Menigitis can be life threatening because the inflammation's proximity to the brain and classified as a medical emergency.

Symptoms:
The most common symptoms of meningitis such as headache, neck stiffness, associated with fever, confusion or altered consciousness, vomiting and an inability to tolerate light or load noises.

Causes:
Bacteria and viruses that cause of meningitis are fairly common and associated with other illnesses. Bacteria and viruses that infect the skin, urinary system, gastrointestinal or respiratory tract can spread by the bloodstream to the meninges through cerebrospinal fluid, that circulates in and around the spinal cord.
